This question gets asked nearly every day. Sometimes several times in a day. I am surprised you were not prompted to that fact when composing your question. Every time I stumble across one of these inane questions I lose a little more of the will to live. What difference does it make who likes whom? I just don’t get it. Someone please explain it to me.
My all time favorite concert pianist, was Artur Rubinstein: consummate, consistent interpretation – none comparable in my opinion: had a long and illustrious career.
As I’ve stated so many times on this program, I refuse to choose “a” favorite; I have three “favorites: Richard Wagner, Jean Sibelius and P.I.Tchaikovsky: each speaks to me in a profoundly different way, and I love the music of all three.
The greatest violinist of the 20th century – bar none – was in my opinion, Jascha Heifetz: he and Rubinstein were equal in each of their respective artistry.

Maurice Andre is my favorite performer. He’s an amazing virtuoso trumpet player. As for the composer…I love Shostakovitch.
